To the Case Western Reserve Community:

We write to share that the Kelvin Smith Library (KSL) will be closed tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 17) after University Health Services learned that an individual subsequently diagnosed with COVID-19 had recently been the building. In accordance with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, KSL will receive comprehensive cleaning tomorrow and is scheduled to reopen at noon, Sunday, Oct. 18.

Please note that anyone who was in close contact with the individual (as determined by CDC guidelines and consultation with public health experts) already has been notified of next steps, including quarantine and testing.

As a reminder, we ask all members of the university community to continue to monitor for symptoms daily and complete the health attestation form online. If you have symptoms, even mild ones, please do not come to campus—or, if already living on campus, do not leave your residence hall room. Especially as cases and hospitalizations continue to climb in Northeast Ohio, we must do all that we can to reduce infection risks.

Faculty, staff and students also must wear masks at all times on campus—except when alone in an office or other enclosed space. Please also maintain 6 feet of distance among one another, and regularly wash or sanitize your hands throughout the day.

Thank you for your efforts to keep our campus community healthy and safe.
