Local West

Calling all hipsters and those who like to eat!  Looking for a fun lunch or dinner that won’t break the bank?  Look no further than Local West located on Detroit Shoreway.

Local West opened in 2015 after converting and renovating an existing fast-food building.  Consequently, Local West has a parking lot, a feature hard to come by on Detroit Shoreway.  Local West specializes in burgers, sandwiches, and craft beer.  The choices are dizzying (Figure 1).  My husband Steve had been Local West before he introduced it to me, so he helped me navigate the seemingly endless choices.

On my first visit, I tried the special Avocado Lime BLT with a side of jalapeño slaw (Figure 2).  Mmmmm.  On my second trip, I could not resist the poutine (Figure 3).  I know—for shame, but so good!  On both trips, we washed everything down with craft beer choices, but it’s good to know they have a wine selection, too (Figure 4).

With its extensive permanent menu supplemented by interesting specials and rotating beer selections, Local West is going to be on my heavy rotation list for the foreseeable future.
