The Cleveland Museum of Art is arguably the crown jewel of Cleveland culture. If at this point you are wondering I have mislabeled this post, no, you are in the correct place. The art gets you in the door, but then you discover the set of fabulous earrings that complete your outfit.

And that set is known as Provenance. When I first interviewed at CWRU, the relocation team was quick to show me the museum and the fabulous central atrium. From the atrium, I noticed Provenance Café, a very nice cafeteria-style eatery offering upscale snacks and entrees for eat-in or eating in the atrium. Until very recently, when people mentioned the great food at the museum, this is what I thought they were talking about.

To my delight, not so! Tucked to the side of Provenance Café is Provenance, a full service bar and restaurant featuring locally sourced fare. Steve and I recently had lunch there before walking over to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. We started with a cheese plate (dessert first!) and bibb salad and followed that with the mussels and cavatelli. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service. I enjoyed it so much so that I returned the next week with Mom before we attended the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble concert at the museum. And, I am happy to report that our Epidemiology and Biostatistics next happy hour will be there coinciding with MIX (social mixing events held on the first Friday of the month). Great food and great events are sure to lure me back time and again to Provenance. And I don’t mind one bit.
