XYZ Tavern

Steve and I were out and about one late afternoon and decided to stop in somewhere fun for a drink and a bite to eat. We have heard much about the Gordon Square Arts District on Detroit Avenue as a destination for theater and food, so we decided to try it on. After a brief drive up and down the street, we decided to park and pop into XYZ Tavern. If only we had popped into another place…

The XYZ Tavern could be a decent place, but several small things snow-balled into a not-so-satisfying experience.   The beer selection is pretty good, but the food not so much. We started with the ill-advised broccoli tempura and forgettable mussels (Figure 1). Our main meal was a sampling of Cleveland BBQ: pulled pork and ribs (Figure 2). Coming from the BBQ belt, we were not particularly impressed. Finally, at great risk of sounding old, I could not bear the loud music pulsating throughout our meal. This aged girl would like a re-do on the Gordon Square experience.
