BottleHouse Brewery

Who:  Dana C. Crawford, PhD

What: BottleHouse Brewery

Where:  2050 Lee Rd, Cleveland, OH 44118

As previously mentioned in a post, there are several restaurants and bars up and down Lee Road, and my husband Steve intends to visit every single one (except for the late Sweetie Fry, which closed early Fall 2014). One of our latest Lee Road romps was to the BottleHouse Brewery in February 2015. This spot on Lee Road is meant for drinking, listening to music, and just plain hanging out. The tables are long rustic tables and benches, which encourages large groups to gather (and apparently play Dungeons and Dragons, which was the case that night for the table behind us). The beer tap list is a mix of in-house brews and “guest taps” (Figure 1). Perhaps surprising to me was the fact that the BottleHouse Brewery is actually the Bottlehouse Brewery AND MEADERY. There are currently eight meads on tap, so feel free to knock yourself out! I didn’t try the mead on this visit, but I did try the combo board (the three meats from the charcuterie board and two cheeses) and pierogies (Figure 2). The food selection is limited as might be expected for a brewery and meadery, so think munchies and sandwiches, not entrees (and, warning, the kitchen is closed on Sundays, so only drinking is allowed). Despite the limited menu, this place has a solid spot on our Lee Road list of rotations, so we will be back for another brew soon.
